Additionally, Lake Tahoe, one of the most beautiful lakes you’ll ever see, is only a short drive away.
Reno exudes a casual, laid-back vibe thanks to the public art that is dotted all over the city. Spend some time exploring the River Walk District and stopping for a bite on one of the many patios that look out over the water.
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California
Carmel-by-the-Sea is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The town is overflowing with attractions, including the white sand and unspoiled beauty of Carmel Beach, as well as historic churches, museums, amazing dining options, boutiques, and wineries. With its stone courtyards and old buildings, downtown seems like it belongs in a fairy tale.
The 1770-old Carmel Mission should be on your itinerary. Spend the night at the boutique inn The Hideaway to end your trip, where you can spend evenings by the fire in the outdoor courtyard. Downtown and the beach are both accessible on foot if you can force yourself to leave.
Cooperstown, New York
Cooperstown has many romantic attractions outside of sports, though it is probably best known for being the location of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The town of Cooperstown, which was once the residence of Last of the Mohicans author James Fenimore Cooper, is replete with opulent residences and structures from the 1800s.
Many of these structures are now home to galleries, shops, restaurants like the Doubleday Cafe, and museums. Don’t forget to visit the Farmers’ Museum and take a stroll along Otsego Lake’s shimmering shores. You can walk to all the eateries and museums in the historic district if you reserve a room at the White House Inn.
San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio ranks among the most romantic cities in Texas due to its historic buildings and rich cultural heritage. It also happens to be one of the state’s most ancient towns and the location of the fabled Alamo. Couples should spend a day strolling through the San Antonio Botanical Garden and the shops and eateries along the River Walk in San Antonio.
With views of the skyline or the Texas Hill Country, spend the night at the romantic Thompson San Antonio River Walk to cap off your day. A chic rooftop bar and one of the city’s most stunning pools are also available to you.
Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri
The Lake of the Ozarks isn’t just a party destination, though. Don’t get us wrong; the area’s resorts, swimming areas, and boats offer plenty of that. To spend time together, there are also lots of picturesque campsites and peaceful cabins.
Here, spending the day exploring Bridal Cave and Lake of the Ozarks State Park are highlights of a couple’s getaway, but, let’s be honest, there is probably no better activity than swimming, floating, and boating in the lake. Beautiful views can be found at the Camden on the Lake Resort, and many of the rooms have balconies with gorgeous water views.
Morro Bay, California
This picturesque California town is full of romantic views. One of the most iconic and beautiful sights in the state is Morro Rock, a 551-foot-tall volcanic plug rising from the water just off the coast. Morro Bay, which is near the well-known Highway 1 Discovery, is close to Hearst Castle and quaint beach towns like Cambria and Cayucos.
There are many wineries in the region, and generally speaking, the tasting costs are much lower than those at the wineries in Napa Valley. Dine at Robin’s Restaurant in Cambria’s outdoor courtyard for a special occasion, and then treat yourself to a stay at the 456 Embarcadero Inn and Suites to enjoy lovely views of the bay and Morro Rock.
Little Rock, Arkansas
Little Rock is a mosaic of nature, culture, and art, with amazing parks, museums, and dining establishments. Even though this would be reason enough to visit it for a romantic getaway, the fact that many of its top attractions are free makes it stand out.
For instance, you can explore the renowned Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (though it is currently undergoing a stunning renovation) and take free guided tours of the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site Visitor Center. You can also take beautiful pictures of turtles swimming in the Arkansas River and enjoy the lovely Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden. Additionally, the William J. Clinton Library and Museum is located in Little Rock.
Klamath Falls, Oregon
The ideal location for couples looking for a picturesque natural getaway is Klamath Falls. Numerous wildlife refuges can be found in the region along the Klamath River Basin, where couples can go hiking, kayaking, or just relax in nature.
A quick drive will also take you to Crater Lake National Park, one of the nation’s most breathtaking sights, so be sure to pack your camera. Put aside your worries about the weather because Klamath Falls is renowned for having 300 days of sunshine a year, which is unusual for the Pacific Northwest.
